Activities Committee

The Activities Committee organizes and hosts a variety of events open to all general body members. These include suture clinics in collaboration with The Princeton Review, a Medical Speakers' Conference, study breaks, MCAT panels, and academic advising sessions with Shemmassian Academic Consulting. Our events focus on planning, networking, and engaging with physicians from the Texas Medical Center, whom we frequently invite as guest speakers. If you're looking to expand your network among Rice Pre-med students and connect with professionals in the field, consider joining us. We look forward to meeting y'all! â€‹

Mentorship Committee

The Mentorship Committee manages the Big Owl/Little Owl (BOP), a program offered by RPMS that connects small groups of Rice undergraduates with medical students, physicians, and residents. Meetings are held in a casual setting, promoting discussion of medical issues and topics outside of academics such as lifestyle, aspirations, and the reality of being a medical student or physician. Come learn about the mentors' experiences within healthcare and enjoy some free food!

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee helps organize a wide range of medical-related service projects and informational events to provide opportunities for member to connect with the Houston community. Committee members will reach out to different organizations, hospitals, and administrators to expand volunteering and shadowing opportunities for RPMS members. Some examples include hospital tours, volunteering at Texas Children's, etc. â€‹

Application Prep Committee

The Application Prep Committee is responsible for coordination and planning the annual RPMS Mock Interviews as well as our gap year panel, personal statement workshop, and some smaller mini mock interviews (MMIs) in the spring. These events provide opportunities for Rice applicants to seek guidance from medical professionals, further understand the application process, and refine their interview skills!
